Information We Collect
- Discord Profile: Username, avatar, user ID when you authenticate via Discord OAuth.
- Email Address: Required for credit purchases and account management.
- Server Information: Details about Discord servers you list on our platform.
- Bot Data: Server statistics (member count, metadata) collected by our Discord bot, and activity statistics if the server turns them on (see Server activity statistics).
- Technical Data: IP address, browser, OS, pages visited, and usage analytics.
- AI Usage: Credits purchased/used, prompts, generated content, tool usage patterns.
- Server Builder: your answers in its guided flow, the plan generated from them and your changes, and the builds made in your servers (see Server Builder).
AI Processing Notice
What you enter in the AI writing tools (rules, announcements, ads and the other generators) is sent to OpenAI to generate the text. Your answers to the Server Builder and the sentence you write there are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to design and write your server plan. We do not send your name, Discord ID or email address with these requests. They are not anonymous on our side, though: we keep what you entered and what was generated with your account (see Data Retention). Avoid writing personal information in these fields. OpenAI complies with GDPR.
How We Use Your Information
- Service Provision: To provide and improve our platform and AI tools.
- Payment Processing: Managing credit purchases via Stripe.
- Site Analytics: Understanding how the site is used through anonymous statistics (Plausible).
- AI Content Generation: Processing prompts for Discord content.
- Server Statistics: Maintaining accurate server listings.
- Communication: Sending updates and notifications.
Server activity statistics
Owners and admins of a Discord server can turn on activity statistics for their server, on DiscordGate or with the bot's /activity command. This section also concerns the members of these servers, even if they do not use DiscordGate.
- Turning it on: off by default, turned on only by an owner or admin of the server ("Manage Server" permission). The results are visible only to the owners and admins of that server, never publicly.
- What the bot reads: new message and reaction events, presence in voice channels and, once a day, the server's member count. The bot has no access to message content: it does not request Discord's "Message Content" permission.
- What is kept: counts (messages per channel and per hour, reactions, minutes in voice, member count) and, to count active members, a fingerprint of each active member. An active member wrote or spent at least one minute in voice that day.
- Never collected: message and attachment content, members' usernames, avatars, roles or Discord IDs, joins and leaves, online status, direct messages.
- Fingerprints: computed by the bot from the Discord ID, with a secret key combined with the server's ID (HMAC-SHA256 cut to 64 bits). The same person has different fingerprints on different servers: no one can be followed from one server to another. This is pseudonymous data, not anonymous data; the key is known only to the bot and never stored with the data.
- Retention: fingerprints 35 days; hourly and per-channel counts 90 days; daily totals as long as the collection stays on.
- Deletion: all of a server's data is deleted as soon as an owner or admin turns the collection off, or when the bot leaves the server for good.
- Legal basis: the legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) of the server's admins and of DiscordGate in measuring a community's activity, with these safeguards: turned on by the server's choice, no content read, pseudonymous data kept for a short time.
Member of a server that turned these statistics on?
You can object to this processing or ask for your fingerprints to be erased by writing to [email protected] with your Discord ID and the server's name. We handle the request within one month. You can also ask an admin of the server to turn the collection off.
Server Builder
The Server Builder designs a Discord server with AI from your answers, then builds it in an empty server you own with a separate bot, DGate Builder.
- Sent to Anthropic (Claude): the brief made from your answers in the guided flow (topic, subject, size, audience, tone and options), the sentence you may write, and, to rewrite the texts, the plan with your changes. Anthropic processes them to generate the plan. Your name, Discord ID and email address are not sent.
- What we keep: each plan (your answers, your sentence, the generated plan and your changes), each build (the server's ID, your Discord ID, the plan as built, and a journal of every change made in the server: the IDs of what was created and the previous value of what was changed, so the build can be undone), and a record of each AI call (model, size, cost and outcome, linked to your account and the plan, without its text).
- Retention: a plan never built, with no build attempt, is deleted 30 days after its creation. Built plans, builds and their journals are kept with your account (they let you undo a build and see your servers) and deleted with it. AI call records are kept 12 months.
- The DGate Builder bot: you add it yourself, to a server you own and pick. It asks for Discord's Administrator permission, used only to build the plan you approved and to undo it. Before building, it reads the server (owner, channels, roles, member count) to check that it is yours and empty. It stays 24 hours after a build or an undo, so you can undo or build again, then leaves; "Finish" makes it leave at once. Added to a server where nothing was built, it leaves after 2 hours. A build can be undone for 7 days (the bot must be added back if it left).
- Sharing a build: if you share a build, its page shows the layout publicly (category, channel and role names, channel types, role colours; never the texts, permissions or your answers) until you stop sharing it or undo it.
- "Would you rather we did it for you?" form: optional. Your answers (interest, what you would want, budget, whether we may contact you, your note) are kept with your plan and sent, with your username, to the team's private Discord channel.
- Your opinion of the builder: optional. Your rating and comment are kept with your plan and sent, with your username, to the team's private Discord channel, to improve the builder.
- Legal basis: providing the service you ask for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

Delete Your Lookup Tool Data
You can delete your data collected from our Discord lookup tools at any time. This includes your profile information and search history from tools like User Lookup and Username Checker.
Data Retention
- Data is retained as long as you use our services.
- After 3 years of inactivity, we notify you before anonymizing your account.
- If no response, your account is disconnected and anonymized.
- Reconnecting after anonymization creates a new profile.
- Server activity statistics: their own retention periods, set out in their section.
- AI writing tools: what you entered and what was generated is kept with your account.
- Server Builder: its own retention periods, set out in its section.
