GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, and players are already looking for people to play with. If you want a Discord server that's ready on launch day, set it up now: here is a structure, roles and rules that work for a GTA community, plus an honest answer about GTA RP.
In short
- GTA 6 launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn't dated a PC version.
- Create your server now, so it's organized before the launch-week rush: info channels, looking-for-group (LFG) channels by console, voice channels for squads, a spoiler channel.
- Sort members by console and by what they're looking for, with Discord's onboarding questions.
- Write rules that fit GTA: no cheats or mod menus, no "modded money" or account selling, spoilers kept in one place.
- GTA RP runs on FiveM (GTA V on PC) today. Nothing has been announced for GTA 6 RP.
- To go faster, start from DiscordGate's free GTA 6 template, built in your server in about a minute, or let its server builder design one, then list your server on DiscordGate.
What's confirmed about GTA 6 (and what isn't)
Build your server around what Rockstar has confirmed, not around rumors:
- Release date: Thursday, November 19, 2026.
- Platforms: PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. No PC release date yet.
- Preloading: planned for November 12, one week before launch, for digital copies.
Rockstar hasn't detailed everything yet. So don't promise your members things like cross-play, a specific online mode or RP before they're official: you'd have to take it back on launch day. Keep your channels generic ("sessions", "crew") and adjust once the game is out.
Step 1: Create the server
On desktop:
In the server list on the left, click Add a Server (the + button).
Click Create My Own. Discord also offers starting templates, including Gaming, but you'd replace most of its channels anyway.
Choose For a club or community.
Give the server a name and an icon, then click Create.
On mobile, tap the + at the bottom of your server list, then follow the same steps.
Then turn on Community features: open Server Settings, then Enable Community. Discord asks you to require a verified email, turn on the explicit media content filter, and pick a rules channel and an updates channel. In return, you unlock onboarding questions and announcement channels, which you'll use below.
Step 2: Set up your channels
Start small. A server with 40 empty channels looks dead; add channels when the existing ones fill up. A structure that works for a GTA community:
| Category | Channels | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 📌 Info | #rules, #announcements, #gta-6-news | What everyone reads first |
| 💬 Community | #general, #clips, #screenshots, #spoilers | Daily chat, spoilers kept apart |
| 🎮 Looking for group | #lfg-ps5, #lfg-xbox, #crew-recruitment | Find people on the same console |
| 🔊 Voice | Squad 1, Squad 2, Squad 3, AFK | Join, play, leave |
| 🛠️ Staff | #staff, #logs | Hidden from members |
A few tips:
- Make #announcements an Announcement channel (available once Community is on): other servers can follow it and receive your posts.
- Lock #spoilers behind a role, and ask members to use spoiler tags (
||like this||) everywhere else during launch week. - To add symbols or emojis to channel names, use DiscordGate's symbols tool.
Step 3: Roles and onboarding
Roles do two jobs: they give permissions (who moderates) and they sort members (who plays where).
- Open Server Settings, then Roles, then Create Role.
- Create the staff roles first: Admin, Moderator. Give each only the permissions it needs; DiscordGate's permissions calculator helps you check.
- Create member roles: PS5, Xbox, and a few interest roles such as Story (spoilers), Playing together or Content creator.
- Open Server Settings, then Onboarding. Add a question like "Which console will you play on?" with PS5 and Xbox as answers, each one giving its role and showing its LFG channel.
New members then land in the right channels without reading a wall of text.
Step 4: Rules and your launch announcement
GTA communities attract the same problems every time. Put these in your rules from day one:
- No cheats, mod menus or exploits shared in the server.
- No selling of accounts, in-game money, "recovery" or "modded lobby" services.
- Spoilers only in #spoilers, or behind spoiler tags, until a date you choose.
- Respect other members: no harassment, no NSFW.
- LFG posts in the LFG channels only.
DiscordGate's rules generator turns your list into a clean rules message. For launch day, draft your post with the announcement generator and add a live countdown with a Discord timestamp: the timestamp converter gives you a code like <t:1795046400:R> (midnight UTC on November 19), which every member sees as a countdown in their own time zone.
What about GTA RP?
GTA RP servers today run on FiveM, a modding platform for GTA V on PC. Rockstar has owned the team behind it (Cfx.re) since 2023, but it has announced nothing about roleplay in GTA 6. And since GTA 6 launches on consoles only, there won't be modded RP cities at launch.
So:
- If you run a GTA V RP server, keep it on FiveM and open a GTA 6 corner for your members (#gta-6-news, a poll on what they expect).
- If you're starting an RP project for GTA 6, build the community now and present it honestly as a project.
An RP server also needs more structure than a regular community:
- Applications or whitelist: a channel explaining how to apply, and a form or a ticket to do it.
- Factions and jobs: a category each for police, EMS, mechanics or gangs, with their own roles.
- RP rules: no RDM (random deathmatch), no VDM (vehicle deathmatch), no metagaming, no powergaming.
- Staff tickets: a ticket system, so players can report a scene without pinging every moderator.
Start faster with DiscordGate's builder
Creating every channel, role and message by hand takes an evening. DiscordGate's free GTA 6 template builds the whole base in your empty server in about a minute: 14 channels (news, clips, the map, mission help, spoilers, LFG by platform, voice), 9 roles, the rules and a welcome message with their banners, onboarding questions and AutoMod rules against fake keys. It costs no credits.
On the template page, click Use this template and log in with Discord. Your plan opens: click any channel, category or role to rename, move or delete it, and pick the style of the messages and banners. Nothing changes on Discord yet.
In Discord, create an empty server: +, Create My Own, then For me and my friends. Back on DiscordGate, pick it in step 2, then click Add to "GTA 6" in step 3 and keep the Administrator box ticked: that's what lets the DGate Builder bot create everything.
Click Build in "GTA 6". The channels appear one by one in Discord, and the server is ready in under a minute, with Community turned on. DGate Builder stays 24 hours so you can undo the build in one click, then leaves on its own.
Finish the three settings Discord keeps for the server owner (2FA for moderation, rules screening, Server Guide), then adapt the channels and rules with the steps above.
Want a structure of your own instead? The server builder designs one with AI from five questions, and your first one is free. If you run a GTA V roleplay server on FiveM, start from the GTA RP template.
Get your first members
A server ready on November 19 is good; a server with members on November 19 is better.
- List it on DiscordGate: pick the Gaming category and add tags like "gta", "gta 6" or "gta rp", so players searching for GTA servers find it. Bump it regularly to bring it back to the top of the list.
- Write a short pitch: the advertising generator gives you a server ad to adapt for the places that allow one. Always follow each community's self-promotion rules.
- Check your setup: Server Health points out what's missing before you invite people.
On October 28, 2026, 43 servers listed on DiscordGate matched "GTA", most of them French-speaking. In English, you'll find Gamers Hub, a multi-game community that plays GTA among other games, and Sentinel London RP, a UK FiveM roleplay project in development. Browse more in the server directory.
